Winter Park -Hill Climb

On Saturday morning June 11th, approximately 400 mountain bike racers kicked off the 2011 Winter Park Mountain Bike race series. The seven race series is very popular with all levels of mountain bikers with its excellent courses, reasonable entry fees, great amenities and intense competition. It's also very popular with our team. This year, Feedback Sports will have three separate 8 person teams competing in the team competition at Winter Park. Yes, we will have a strong presence at Winter Park.

The Hill Climb race is fairly straight forward. It's a mass start race, (by age group and category) 5.2 miles from the base of the resort up to the top of the Super Gauge chair lift. Total elevation gain of 2,100 feet. This year, there is a ton of snow still at Winter Park, but resort personnel plowed the service road that the race is run on, a few weeks back. That gave the road (i.e. the course) a chance to dry out. Hence, conditions were dry and hard packed, which led many racers to compete on Cyclocross bikes.

For team Feedback Sports, it was a very good race. We had twenty racers out competing! Of the twenty, we had 14 top-ten finishes, 5 podium finishes and 1 win! Podium finishers included Rich DiGeronimo in 1st, Marjie Tokarski in 2nd, Craig Hofer in 2nd, Ken Benesh in 2nd, and Bryan Myers in 3rd. Ken Benesh finished with the 2nd fastest time of all participants and Chris Phenicie finished with the 12th fastest. Lisa Hudson was the 4th fastest of all woman participants.

Here's a rundown of the Feedback Sports racers who raced. Competing in the Pro Category were Lisa Hudson, Ken Benesh, Chris Phenicie and Ed Tokarski.
